Pastoral Care Outreach Ministers commit to help bring our Christ’s loving
presence, care , compassion, hope and, when requested, prayer and Holy
Eucharist to those members of our parish community who are suffering in body,
mind or spirit, unable to physically attend parish services and wanting to
continue to share in the precious gifts of parish life. Outreach Ministers respond
to requests to visit these parishioners who may be confined to home,
seniors’ residences, long term care or hospital facilities.

Outreach Ministers are all Holy Cross parishioners who have chosen to
volunteer their gifts of faith, time and talent to participate and grow
spiritually as lay disciples of Christ in His healing ministry. Outreach
volunteers minister on behalf of the Pastor and Parish of Holy Cross as a
whole. They are able to offer Liturgy of the Word on occasion and to arrange
for a priest to administer sacraments when requested. The Bishop of Victoria
and the Catholic Health Association of BC provide for the required training,
tools, and guidance needed to support Pastoral Care ministry in our parishes.
